Boxing

  • This past weekend, on March 2, Top Rank promotion held the featherweight "Title Doubleheader" event in NY, USA. As the name suggests, there were two featherweight championship titles were on the line:
    • WBA: Otabek Kholmatov(Uzbekistan) vs Raymond Ford (USA)
      • Result: Raymond Ford won by KO
    • IBF: Luis Alberto Lopez(Mexico) vs Reiya Abe(Japan)
      • Result: Lopez won by TKO
  • We also had Jake Paul fighting against Ryan Bourland, but let's be honest, nobody cares 💅
  •  Upcoming next: we will have one of the most anticipated boxing matches between Anthony Joshua(England) and Francis Ngannou(Cameroon) on March 8 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Even though it will NOT be a title fight, fans want to see how Joshua performs against MMA fighter turned to boxer Ngannou after his very impressive boxing match against Tyson Fury.

Kickboxing:

  • K1 is returning to the world stage - this year alone the promotion is planning to hold its World Grand Prix events in New York(USA), Sarajevo(BiH), Sicily(Italy), Curitiba(Brazil), Osaka(Japan). Hopefully, it will be a new/fresh beginning for the promotion after almost a two decade of "dark ages" as K1 fans still wish to see a new generation of Badris, Mark Hunts, Overeems and Mikro Cro Cops.
  • BeyondKick anonunced the March kickboxing Pound-for-Pound ranking. As expected, Chingiz Allazov came No.1 on the list, followed by 2 - Superborn(ONE FC), 3- Toki Tamari(RISE), 4- Donovan Wisse(Glory), Kazuki Osaki(RISE). Personally I was super happy to see Marat Grigorian making it to top10 pound-for-pound list again this month.

Muay Thai:

  • As mentioned earlier ONE 166 was held in Qatar last week, and Muay Thai bout between Zafer Sayik(Türkiye) vs Vladimir Kuzmin(Russia), Zakaria El Jamari(Morocco) vs Ali Seldoev(Russia), and Shinji Suzuki(Japan) vs Han Zi Hao(China) were on the card. In these competitive matches, Kuzmin and Suzuki by unanimous decision, Seldoev by KO won against their opponents. Full results here

BJJ:

  • ADCC Trials are on the move, the next stops being the North & South America continents. This year, the main event, ADCC World Championship will be held at the T-mobile arena in Las Vegas, and that itself says a lot about how big ADCC has become as a prominent, globally well known grappling championship. I personally would love to see another match between Craig Jones vs Gordon Ryan in the finals, but it seems Craig is not interested in competing at ADCC mainly due to the prize they offer being low as he claims in his latest vlog. But I'm still happy to see the other talents, such as, Nicky Rod, Nicky Ryan from B-Team competing for the gold.

Judo:

  • On March 2~3, Bosnia and Herzegovina hosted another spectacular Judo event - Sarajevo Junior European Cup 2024. There were 295 judoka to compete from Europe, Asia and America. Stats here

Sambo:

  • N/A

Match of the week:

  • Arjan Bhullar vs Amir Aliakbari - ONE 166, Qatar

Personally I found this match very ironic not because of it being so good but being one of the worst matches of the recent years. Arjan Bhullar didn't seem to enjoy every single second of the match, but as a fan I truly enjoyed him leaving the ring with a red card. Fans had it enough, so did Herb Dean 😤
